Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use Pleasanton Residents Directory. Continued use means you accept them. If the terms are not acceptable, do not use the reference.

1. What Pleasanton Residents Directory Is

Pleasanton Residents Directory is privately operated reference material. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections associated with Pleasanton and Alameda County, California. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with an office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use the reference only for lawful purposes. You may not use these pages or anything reached through them to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Status

Pleasanton Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing on these pages or returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report. None of it may be used to assess eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Outside Links and Services

Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, set their own terms and privacy policies. Pleasanton Residents Directory does not control their content, uptime, prices, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a statement is accurate, complete, current, or that an external portal will work or return a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of these pages or an external resource, including a decision based on a record found through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorney fees, that results from your misuse of the reference or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief attributed excerpt is welcome. Republishing full pages or copying the material systematically is not permitted.

9. Changes to These Terms

A revised version may be posted here. Use after a change is posted means the revised terms are accepted.

10. Ending Access

Access may be blocked or restricted for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at the operators’ discretion and without advance notice.

11. California Governing Law

These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000-7931.000, governs requests to public agencies for identifiable records; it does not turn this private reference into a records custodian. California’s Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, governs covered privacy rights where applicable.

12. Severability

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
